Accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the only chartered professional body in the field of management and leadership, you can graduate with a degree as well as the CMI's Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership.

Full-time students also have the option to add work experience to their MBA through a year’s paid placement in industry.

Degree and experience
At least three years management or professional experience, plus a degree or equivalent professional qualification. If you have considerable management experience but no first degree, contact us at SBL-office@brighton.ac.uk.

Graduate Management Admissions Test
Our MBA programmes do not require the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), though if you have taken the GMAT a good score can strengthen your application.

English language requirements

Case studies and professional work-based projects enable you to apply your new skills to the benefit of employers. Guest speakers, industry visits and attending core modules provide a wider perspective and exposure to different cultures as experiences are shared.

It is possible to complete the part-time course in two years, but most students spread the workload over three years.

Flexible study

Our MBA programme has been developed so that you can choose to complete your MBA full-time, part-time or a combination of online and taught (blended learning). When studying in the block taught format, modules can be taken in any order to suit your interests, apart from the final module.

You can also choose to start your MBA in January or September, depending on the route chosen. The two-year full-time MBA with placement year starts in September.

Placement year

To further increase your employability and international experience we offer full-time students starting in September the opportunity to take a placement year. This means that your course will take two years, but you’ll be graduating with work experience.

The year on placement in a role related to your course will allow you to put all that you have learned on your masters into practice, enhancing your career opportunities and giving you practical experience in your area of expertise.

During your placement you will also complete a business project. This project is assessed as part of your masters and, depending on the topic that is agreed between you and your employer, could also provide a valuable piece of insight for your placement employer.

Our placement partners include BMW, Bosch, Deloitte, Disney, Hewlett Packard, HSBC, IBM, Ipsos Mori, L’Oréal, Nike, Panasonic, PwC, Renault and Warner Brothers.

Work placements are optional, and you are responsible for arranging your placement with support from our dedicated Placements and Employability team.

We are now offering a two-year international study visa route to support applications for this course.

Course leader

Dr Surbhi Sehgal

Surbhi is a senior lecturer in organisational behaviour and human resource management. She holds a PhD in organisational psychology, where her research focused on experience and management of emotions during large-scale organisational change.

Before joining academia she worked as a senior HR consultant for a boutique consultancy firm, where she managed end-to-end HR projects for several Fortune 500 clients.

Surbhi has more than 15 years of teaching experience in higher education. She recently won a One 91快活林 Staff Award in the innovative/inspirational teaching category, and was nominated for a Student Wellbeing Award. In addition to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Surbhi is also an expert on the Help to Grow: Management course.

Successfully completing an MBA can lead to a better salary, improved professional reputation and a large network of business contacts.

A recent study by FT.com found that of those surveyed, MBA graduates gained salary increases of between 44% and 182%. Both in the short-term and long-term, an MBA can be considered a solid investment.

CMI accreditation

Accredited by the (CMI), this course progresses you towards Chartered Manager status – the highest level that can be achieved in the management profession.

All students successfully completing the 91快活林 MBA and who have passed the qualifying modules will have completed the study required for the Chartered Management Institution’s Level 7 Diploma in Management and Leadership.

You can apply to the CMI to buy the certificate at the current cost but will not need to sit their exams.

What's included

You may have to pay additional costs during your studies. The cost of optional activities is not included in your tuition fee and you will need to meet this cost in addition to your fees. A summary of the costs that are included and any extras that you may be expected to pay while studying a course in the School of Business and Law in the 2022–23 academic year are listed here.

Students who choose to take an optional placement will have travel and living expenses. The cost of this depends on where and how long your placement is.
Textbooks are available from the university library (many as e-books) but you may wish to budget up to £200 to buy your own copies.
For the International Tourism Management BSc, International Tourism Management with Marketing BSc, International Event Management BSc, and International Event Management with Marketing BSc, field trips are an optional activity, but we do strongly advise participation as they contribute to the overall experience of studying this degree. The cost for field trips is not included in the tuition fee and must be paid for by students, however please be assured we do try to keep field trip costs to a minimum and don't anticipate the total cost of a few field trips each year to exceed £30. If you would struggle to meet this cost, there is a hardship fund that you may be able to access.

Two miles north of 91快活林 seafront, Moulsecoomb is our largest campus and student village. Moulsecoomb has been transformed by a recent development of our estate. On campus you'll find new Students' Union, events venue, and sports and fitness facilities, alongside the library and student centre.

Over 900 students live here in our halls, Moulsecoomb Place and the new Mithras halls – Brunswick, Goldstone, Hanover, Preston and Regency.

Moulsecoomb has easy access to buses and trains and to all the exciting things happening in our home city.

Mithras Halls are stylish new high-rises in the heart of the student village at our revitalised Moulsecoomb campus with ensuite rooms for more than 800 students.
Varley Park is a popular dedicated halls site, offering a mix of rooms and bathroom options at different prices. It is around two miles from Moulsecoomb campus and four miles from the city centre, and is easy to get to by bus.
