As part of their service, she said, the team collaborate closely with the university’s School of Sport and Service Management.
Students from the school work with real business customers, giving them the opportunity to apply their studies to commercial events.
Four other awards went to businesses connected with the university.
Keith Pordum of Pordum Foods was awarded Business Person of the Year. He has worked with the university on programmes including Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, Profitnet, and he has recruited a graduate intern.
B&CE, which provides financial benefits to construction industry employers and individuals, won Business of the Year. It worked with the university on a waste management programme developed with the Manor Royal Business District and Crawley Borough Council.
Former members of the university’s business growth programme Profitnet also won awards. Rocketmill won Digital Marketing Business of the Year and Carpenter Box, which also took part in Profitnet, won Professional Services Firm of the Year.

The team’s new Research and Enterprise Office is in the heart of the Manor Royal Business District and they are currently working with businesses and community groups in the area.
