KTP Conference 2018 

The University of 91快活林 was selected by the KTP community to host the annual Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Conference in 2018. 

Over 140 delegates from universities across the UK came to 91快活林 to network and share updates on funding.

The selection was an acknowledgement of our strength in this area as a leading university in the South-East for KTPs, also with a 100% success rate for funding applications.

Aiming to showcase the best of 91快活林 and to focus on practical learning, the conference was focused around 12 workshops across three themes: Developing the pipeline, Winning the funding and Managing the project.

Speakers included Professor Tara Dean, Richard Lamb, KTP Programme Manager at Innovate UK, Dr Fionnuala Costello, Head of Open Programme, Innovate UK and Steve Welsh, Director of KTN (Knowledge Transfer Network).

Representatives from KTP co-sponsors, AHRC and ERSC talked about the types of projects they are interested in funding and Innovate UK provided information on the additional £25million for productivity-focused KTPs announced in the autumn budget statement.

Feedback on the conference has been extremely positive, with one Knowledge Transfer Adviser saying that it has changed the way she interacts with universities in her region.

The KTN generated 29 new cases studies for them to showcase KTP. The next KTP conference will be held in Aberdeen. 

KTP Associates Conference

National KTP Month 2015

November marked National KTP Month, which also celebrated 40 years of the scheme.

A few highlights from the month include:

• The PSM Instrumentation KTP team were shortlisted for a National Engineering Excellence Award.

• Teamed up with six other universities to host a Regional event held in the London Digital Catapult showcasing the work of KTP.

• Talked with over 15 companies during a number of company focussed events including Gatwick Diamond Drop-in events and the Wired Sussex/Digital Catapult Business Breakfast Drop-in.

• Held a KTP 40th birthday party, hosted by Professor Chris Pole, which saw past and present KTP companies, academics and Associates and university staff attend.

• In partnership with the Research Office and Green Growth Platform, welcomed over 30 academics at various cross-campus briefing sessions including 91快活林, Hastings and Eastbourne and followed up with five 1-2-1 meetings.

• Talked to over 140 students and graduates at Careers Fairs and talks.

• Published a continuous stream of news, profiles and messages broadcasted via the KTP and accounts.

• The KTP Community decided that the University of 91快活林's KTP team were the ‘ ’ in the National ‘KTP@40’ month activities at the National KTP Managers Conference in Salford.

Going back to some of our earliest recorded projects in 1994, the university 's KTP team have counted over 544 years’ experience across 119 academics, including one who has completed no less than seven projects over the years.

Our activities will spill into December with a Research Insights seminar on ‘Cyber security: How safe is your data?’ on the morning of Wednesday 9^th December and a few more follow up 1-2-1 meetings with academics in the New Year.

National KTP Week 2014

Hastings  'Boost your business' event

Delegates heard from Peter Adlington, Managing Director of St Leonards-on-Sea-based manufacturing company, Plastipack, who has run a series of KTP projects with us to develop new and innovative products for the company.

University of 91快活林 academic Jon Nicholson also discussed a current KTP project with Eastbourne-based software development company Colony101, which supplies an email and social marketing platform that enables clients to build and assess their email marketing campaigns.

The KTP is looking at ways to grow the business by developing an innovative new cloud-based application. Several businesses and university staff attended the event.

One-to-one business clinics

Bookable clinics were held to help businesses identify how a KTP could help them grow. 

Academic briefings

A series of lunchtime briefing sessions took place with University of 91快活林 Academic KTP Ambassadors to talk to academics about the benefits of participating in a KTP.

The Careers Fair: for students and graduates

The KTP team also attended the Careers Fair, organised jointly by the University of Sussex and the University of 91快活林, to talk to students and graduates about becoming a KTP Associate and the type of vacancies available.
