Opportunities for worship

Throughout the week there are lots of opportunities for worship, both on and off-campus, for a range of faith traditions. Many places of worship are also continuing to provide remote activities and opportunities for worship, so you can get involved no matter where you are located.

Times and locations for worship

Catholic 

Regular events

Sunday:
11am Mass followed by student lunch at St Joseph's Catholic Church on Elm Grove.
5.15pm Music practice in the Meeting House on Sussex campus
6pm Student Mass in the Meeting House on Sussex campus, followed by social/refreshments.

Tuesday:
6.30pm Cathsoc social (including supper) in the Catholic Student Centre situated opposite Falmer Station.

Wednesday:
12.00 Mass in Cockroft 406, followed by lunch in the canteen.
6.45pm Deep Waters student/young adult group in the basement of 6 Wellington Road, BN2 3AA: food, talks, prayer, social.

Jewish

- an Orthodox-style service, warm and welcoming to all.

Hove Hebrew Congregation - a traditional Orthodox Synagogue.

Muslim

We have prayer rooms available for staff, students, and visitors to use on both out Falmer and Moulsecoomb campuses. Please remember to take your prayer mat and any other items home with you when you leave.

Falmer campus

Dallington House second floor: 8am-6pm Monday to Friday

  • Dallington 211 – Sisters prayer room
  • Dallington 212 – Brothers prayer room

There are no washing facilities in either room.

Assist with good ventilation

The university is working to improve fresh air flow in all spaces across campus.

Our prayer rooms in Dallington House and Watts (with the exception of the washrooms) have been fitted with CO2 monitors to promote good ventilation and ensure the wellbeing and comfort of all room users.

Worshippers should use the monitors to measure CO2 levels and take appropriate action, as outlined in the poster displayed in each room.
