You need to reapply for your student finance each year. We recommend you apply as early as possible to make sure everything is in place for the start of the new academic year.
You should be applying for finance for the next academic year from January or February. You will need to login to your student finance account, check and update your details, and let the finance agency know if your situation has changed at all.
Changes that could affect how much student finance you get include:
- a change in your marital status
- a change in your household income
- a change in course or university.
What if I did not apply in my first year of study?
If you did not apply in your first year, you can still apply for student finance in any of your subsequent years of study.
You should be eligible for student finance if you are an EU or UK undergraduate student, or are applying to study a PGCE or social work qualification.
