Enrolment allows us to check the details we have for you are correct and it will also ensure that any student finance you may have in place can be arranged in a timely manner. After completing enrolment you will be able to access important information about your course.

Enrolment opens on 19 August. After your application has been processed and your student record is set up, you will receive an email from registryenrolment@brighton.ac.uk inviting you to enrol. We recommend enrolling as soon as you can so that all your student details are confirmed. The whole process takes around 10mins to complete.

We have found that the usual causes of a photo upload issue are the size and format of the image that you are trying to use, and that ensuring your photo is formatted as a JPEG/JPG and reducing the image size before uploading solves the problem.

Photo files have to be under 8Mb in size and saved as JPEG or JPG format.

We have provided below advice and instructions using both mobile and desktop devices:

iPhone

Creating your own shortcut lets you reduce the image file size on your iPhone or iPad according to your preference; plus promises to be a more secure and private method:

1. Open Shortcuts → tap the Add (+) button.
2. Assign a name for your shortcut → tap Add Action.
3. Select Categories tab → tap Media.
4. Scroll down and choose Get Images from Input under the Images section.
5. Tap the blue button on top → toggle Show in Share Sheet → select Done.
6. Drag the Media selection up and choose Resize Image under Image Editing.
7. You may modify the following:

• Tap Size and modify the parameters by which you want to resize. You can select Ask Each Time so you can manually specify it each time you run the shortcut.
• 640 is the default width set by the shortcut. You may want to change it to your preferred width. An option is to change it to 1080, which is the standard value for Instagram posts.

Android (Google/Samsung) phone photo resize tutorial

1. View the photo within the Gallery app then touch the pencil icon to edit
2. You may need to crop the photo to exclude the areas not needed e.g. above your head/below your neck. Use the corners and ‘pinch in’ to reshape the frame then touch Save once finished.
3. Click the pencil icon again to edit then press the 3 vertical dots menu
4. On the next menu press Resize then select 20% and Done
5. Press Save
6. Whilst viewing the edited image swipe up to view the file details which will reveal the file size in Mb. If still over 8Mb then repeat from instruction 3.

Windows or

You may need to use a (free) photo resizing app on your device (or you could take a screenshot of the photo and use that). On Windows, the built-in Paint app can be used (use its ‘Stretch/Skew’ option in the ‘Image’ menu) – and on macOS, the built-in Preview app (use its ‘Adjust Size’ option in the ‘Tools’ menu).

If you are using a photo that you already have stored on a computer, please again ensure that it is and that the image size is below the file limit of 8Mb.

If you are still unable to upload your photo after resizing and saving it in the correct format, please email a copy of the photo and your eight-digit university student number to the IT Service Desk at  servicedesk@brighton.ac.uk

If you haven’t found your accommodation yet, you can enter the type of accommodation you are looking for in the “term-time accommodation” field. This will allow you to continue with your enrolment, and once you have found your accommodation this can be updated with our student administration team.  

Make sure you change your details when you enrol, this will send an automatic email to our student administration team to check through any changes. Once they have reviewed the changes, you will receive another email asking you to continue with your enrolment. Please note that this could take a few days to come through.

Your username and password for the unicard portal are the same as your details for My Studies. If you are having trouble logging in, you can try resetting your password. If you have already reset your password and are still struggling to log in, please contact servicedesk@brighton.ac.uk or 01273 644444. 

Once you have completed online enrolment, My 91¿ì»îÁÖ will be available for you to login after 60 minutes. Here you can find your email, timetable and links to support services.  

You can find your email address in the “Your address” section on Student View.

Yes, all students need to enrol each year. If your online enrolment is not available, this may be because your School needs to process exam board decisions. Please contact your School office if you have any questions. 

91¿ì»îÁÖ Boost is a package of support to help you to make the best possible start – with discounts and bursaries to support your cost of living and university services that make everyday things just that little bit easier.

There are a range of options available, including financial support with accommodation and travel costs, a laptop loan scheme, Student Jobs Hub for part-time work, free parking on campus and a BSU Essentials Hub.

91¿ì»îÁÖ Boost funding for Accommodation and Travel support is open to UK students starting a full-time undergraduate course in 2024. Full eligibility can be found here.

The laptop loan scheme, BSU Essentials and Student Jobs Hub are available to all students.

Eligible students can apply for 91¿ì»îÁÖ Boost after completing online enrolment in Student View.

Once your enrolment is complete, you will see the option to ‘Apply for the 91¿ì»îÁÖ Boost’. This will only show up if you are eligible to apply. If you can’t see the option to apply and think you should be eligible, please contact boost@brighton.ac.uk.

If you have received your accommodation offer and already completed an application online, you do not need to complete an additional application in Student View.

Travel and Accommodation Boost application outcomes will be sent to your university email address during November.  

We will begin making Travel support payments during November.

For accommodation support, if you are staying in university halls then a credit will be applied to your January and April rent instalments, to reduce the payment required from you.

If you are staying in private halls that are managed by the university, you will receive a £500 payment in January, and a £750 payment in April, to coordinate with your rent instalments.
