Teaching Excellence Framework

The university gained a Silver award in the national 2023, recognising the quality of our teaching and student outcomes.

The award confirms that the student experience and student outcomes across all of the our undergraduate provision including apprenticeships are "typically very high quality", delivering excellence above the rigorous standards set for the UK’s higher education providers.

The TEF is a national scheme run by the Office for Students (OfS). It aims to encourage universities to improve and deliver excellence in the areas that students care about the most: teaching, learning and achieving positive outcomes from their studies.

Ofsted inspections of our courses

Ofsted regularly inspects our Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and Apprenticeship programmes.

Teaching courses are delivered through our ITE Partnership. In our , the overall effectiveness of the ITE partnership was judged to be ‘outstanding’ in early years, primary and secondary, and ‘good’ in further education. Our key strengths included the outstanding progress made by trainees as a result of training, which enables them to fulfil their potential, and inspirational teaching, tutoring and mentoring that model the best teaching and give trainees the ambition to reach the highest standards.

Professional accreditation 

Over 200 of our courses are recognised by 61 professional bodies, meaning that our students are strongly connected to professional real-world practice. This is enhanced by placement and volunteering activities that enable them to gain work or practical experience.

Successful completion of a professionally accredited course indicates that the student has reached the occupational standard required to practice that profession.

Regular course and subject review

At the University of 91快活林 we recognise that course development is essential to our academic vitality and sustainability and curriculum updates are regularly introduced by course teams. In addition, our courses are subject to annual monitoring which takes into account student outcomes and student experience and identifies where improvements might be needed on the course.

Each subject area (and related courses) is reviewed every six years. These reviews allow us to reflect on student performance and experience and to plan future subject and course development ensuring that our courses are always among the most current and relevant available.
