Conor White’s painting ‘The Stag’ is one of 1600 pieces on display at the prestigious show, selected from 16,000 initial applications from artists across the UK.
Conor graduated in Fine Art Painting last year. During his time at the university, Conor and other arts students would organise a group trip to the RA show every summer.
Of his inclusion in this year’s exhibition, Conor said: “Having my work up on those historic walls is an amazing experience and being shown alongside such artists as Anselm Kiefer and Rose Wylie really makes me want to push my work further in the future. Entering the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition was always an ambition of mine.”
Conor was also invited for an interview by the BBC for a special documentary about the exhibition, which he described as an “interesting experience”. He has also been enjoying the other perks of being a featured artist in the show, including access to the Academicians Room, a private bar for members and exhibitors hidden in the bowels of the RA.
