The prize, just announced, is a ‘mark of recognition for contributions to trade and investment in the year 2018’.
Pete Jenkins received the award from Dr Liam Fox, Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade, at a ceremony at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London.
Gamification+, based in 91快活林, offers consultancy and training to organisations that are interested in using games to improve their everyday output. The company’s mission is “to make working more satisfying than playing games”.
The dictionary definition of gamification is ‘the process of adding games or game-like elements to something (such as a task) so as to encourage participation.’
Pete is joined in the senior team at Gamification+ by Vasilis Gkogidis, a Business Management graduate of the University of 91快活林.
Of winning the prize and the progression of the company, Pete Jenkins said: “I’m proud to receive this award. Three years ago we realised that as a company we had been importing most of our products for 15 years and decided it was time to do the opposite.
“Exporting then became our new aim and we designed new services to be sold abroad. Then, with the aid of the Department for International Trade, we gained confidence to go out there and grab those overseas opportunities. This award also recognises that even a small business such as ours can punch above its weight and achieve success in a remarkably short amount of time.”
“I hope we inspire other UK businesses to include exporting as a key part of their strategy too.”
Among the services offered by Gamification+ is consultancy for innovation, strategy and culture change, Lego Serious Play workshops, talks at corporate events and conferences, and training in subjects like gamification and HR, marketing, education or sales.
The company has delivered work for companies around the world including the UK, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Canada, Germany, Italy and Dubai. Pete and his team are now in the process of organising the Gamification Europe conference.
Dr Liam Fox said: “An outstanding example of how successful a local business can be by embracing overseas opportunities, the judging panel felt that Gamification+ is the epitome of an International Trade success story.
“Not only has it demonstrated the success that can be achieved in exporting over a short time, but it has maintained and expanded its UK operation at the same time.”
