The University/College Award from Cost Sector Catering magazine was presented for initiatives including new strategies and actions to improve customer experience.
Julie Barker, the university’s Director of Accommodation and Hospitality, said: “We are delighted with the award which recognises a great deal of hard work by everyone involved in the provision of catering services at the university, from our teams on site to our customers and suppliers.
“We are committed to sustainability in all aspects of service planning and delivery and we recognise the importance of keeping our operations, cost effective and environmentally friendly. Working with local suppliers has helped develop relationships that provide our customers with quality, fresh produce for the right price.
“We also actively encourage healthy eating in and out of our outlets – we are the first university in the UK to support the Jamie Oliver food Foundations ‘Sugar Smart’ campaign.”
