Sam Bolwell will be in goal for the Women's Hockey Team which plays its first game on Tuesday 10 December against Japan.

This, the 26th games, is organised by the International University Sports Federation and the event is held every two years.

Sam, who is studying BSc(Hons) Sport and Exercise Science on a sports scholarship, started roller skating when she was ten and moved into ice hockey when she was 15.

In 2012 she represented Great Britain as a member of the Women's Senior Hockey team in the World Championships in Hull and helped the team gain a world ranking. She had the highest save percentage of all the goalies competing and was awarded the GB supporters' club's Player of the Tournament award.

Sam said she is enjoying her course at the University of 91快活林 and praised sport and exercise science officer Alex Bliss who has helped with strength and conditioning training. She said:

The financial help has also been amazing as I get free gym membership and an allowance which I have used to buy a new hockey stick to use at the University Games.

Sam is a great player and we are all proud she has been selected. We wish her good luck for the games.
